A little idea.

Is there a clock on the topic menu page of each forum?
The reason I ask is because although times are given for each post, due to the fact that we are an international community it may be a good idea to have a clock on the front page of each forum (one for the Zocalo, Babylon 5 etc). This would help people know as to when the last reply was posted in a particular topic.
If there is already a clock, then please ignore this.

  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
You mean on the forum listing (where you select the forum you wish to visit) and not here, right?
  • A good idea, although I personaly don't care as I only have to take 2 hours away to get my time.

I just have to subtract 26 miniutes. Will somebody reset that clock? Doesn't whatever that server runs on have a "Network Time Server" option?

We run RedHat Linux 7.1. Currently, the time is set right. It has always been set right.

Can't blame it on us. Not our fault.

    (not even our server) :P

More importantly, the forum isn't even on our server. (What does it matter what OS we run?)

Well.....if it were on a Windows server...we be screwed. =)

A network time server sounds so "windowish". lol

    True, true.

Network time servers allow a computer to synchronize its clock to a central source automatically. It actually originated on UNIX machines, I believe, but versions do exist for Windows.

I'm telling you, that clock is nearly a half-hour fast! Just reply with what time it is and compare it to the board clock!

Take some comfort in the fact that you never could stop the monster, but at least now you know it's there and can avoid it!

Lorien is the person to talk to about the forum clock, since he is the one with control over the forum's server. Or at least works where it is, or something along those lines. Basically, we regard it as his server.
