I've developed my own set of tools to cope with depression, with angst that would make some of you people wink out of existence on the spot, if your lucky you'd get the chance to scream before you are seared to ashes. I've no doubt alot of you wont even get close to the hard miles I've done, to the soul destroying grind I've experienced.
I offered those same tools to you, to handle the maladies of this board very, very easily.

Standing up and screaming in a movie theater will get you thrown out.
If you go back and look at the terms and conditions of participation on this forum, you'll see that flamewars are against the rules, among other things.
Too many people think that the "I agree" button is actually an "I didn't read any of this, but that's ok so let me in anyway" button.
Adding a forum where people can continue flame wars and sling insults contradicts the rules of this message board.
And what's worse, letting flamewars continue unmoderated, even in a separate forum, is a perfect way to get members of FirstOnes.com to eventually hate each other.
We're all guests here. Is it so hard to act civilized? There are unlimited other mediums where we can carry on conversations unmoderated and flame people to our hearts content... IRC, private chat, other forums, etc.

Bingo. To create such a forum goes both against the interests of this board, most of the members, the administration, and healthy interest.

Problem is that political debates while supposing to be constructive, they are not terribly. Neither side actualy will compromise at this point because they are advocating "irrefutable" truths. For all of us our political view point is firmly emesshed in our personal experiences and backgrounds, at some fundamental level we seem to live in different worlds where different rules apply, and thus from different first premisis we achieve different conclusions.
Basicly, Im thinking we should take political debate off the board, maybe somebody could start up a "warboard" not related to first ones where this stuff could get hashed out.
Frankly I know alot of the negative comments in this thread could potentialy be directed towards me. I dont care, Im fairly well educated, I have a good grasp on history, and I belive what I say based on a understanding of the evidence avalible to me and my understanding of humans (particualry their nasty dark side) Individuals insults are irrelevant.

These political debates are interesting. We disagree with each other, but very rarely do we resort to personal attacks. I do not call people stupid for disagreeing with my views. I'll refute their posts and point out problems, but I will not attack personally unless I am personally attacked, and usually not even then.
This has been the tone here for as long as I've been here. I like that.
I do not go to freerepublic.com and start flaming people. I lurk there every once in ahwile to remind myself how good it is here.
The anonymity of these boards makes it all to easy to become a troll and insult people. These are just names that aren't really attatched to anyone you'll ever meet, right? So why not flame?
Simple: We like the atmosphere here. We've had a very small amount of trouble here, which has been handled quite adroitly by our FirstOnes staff. Those who are trolls do not last long here because they fail to get the reactions they seek.
We have the Zocalo for posts like these. As long as full blown flame wars don't break out, that's all we need. Flamers can go hang out on other boards.

we talk about how this board is great because there is no bullshit that is EVERYWHERE else on the net. and i thank the maker every time i hit IE and my homepage calls up. this is the only board i frequent, because its the best so why bother with the rest. but the reason this is the best site is because of who we are, how we each set a tone for each other. how the older guys around here set a civil tone a long time ago. how we each picked up on it and choose to accept it instead of ignoring it. keeping a civil tongue and open and thoughtful mind, along with non-flaming hands will keep firstones the way it is for a long time to come. but its up to us to do that. because we are firstones, together not apart.

sb, I do understand what you are going after. And I quite frankly do not like the idea. It can go here in the Zoc, if the topic turns in a way the reader doesn't like, they can stop reading it.
you see, this place has a cycle. There are time when things are ducky, then after a while they get tence,then they are ducky again. We just are at a tense moment. Putting it in another forum wont make the cycle go away. I have not take mob psycology, but I am quite sure this is how it works.
