Marcus Cole / Ivonova

So, someone at World of JMS has a history of Marcus Cole, and it sounds very fan fic to me:

But, Wikipedia is cites it as having come from a short story, "Space, Time, and the incurable romantic"

So, anyone here know if this is legit? I'd actually be kinda pissed if it was. I liked the tragic ending of that romance, it added much IMHO.

That short story is infact legit but extremely hard to find a copy of.

    Worf
  • ...that's so incredibly stupid...

That's almost enough for me to take the Star Wars approach to B5. Nothing new after the series, and the first round of books.

I've been saying that for years, but noone seems to listen...
  • The story where he's revived and tries to recreate Ivanova from DNA or something? Yeah, didn't JMS write that?

Yes, JMS wrote the short story about Marcus from which the last paragraph of that "history" summarized.

The short story is indeed titled "Space, Time and the Incurable Romantic". It was written for the Amazing Stories anthology magazine. A Google search of the title will produce the story.
  • I have a copy of the issue with that story. Yeah, it was pretty stupid and read like some bad fan fiction. I personally do not consider that part of the story at all. I loved the depressing Ivanova/Marcus romance and how it ended.
I once read someone's opinion that the story was actually a huge middle finger to all the fans who wanted Marcus to come back, but it's hard to say really. I do like that idea though.
