Video Card Woes -- The next generation

croxiscroxis I am the walrus
My Dad's computer no longer displayed anything on the screen. He reported a lot of graphics corruption and lockups the day before so my first thought was the video card finally died (it is an old nvidia 7600). My brother swapped video cards with his computer and both worked fine.

Any suggestions on what else to try? Some expensive component will need to be replaced and I want to make sure we replace the right one :)

Sounds like a heat issue killing the card.

In the PC that has the "bad" card now, does it have better cooling? If the fan on the card is dead, the ambient temperature might make it operate until something really pushes it.

My bet would still be the card is having issues.
