That's the problem with ebay becoming so popular. It attracts people like that.
Does EBay have anything like SafeTrader?

I really don't understand people like that!

I'm actually currently pondering here if I am a victim of a fraud myself. I purchased an item from eBay the 1st day of this month and I still haven't received it. Granted I live in Europe and I bought it from US and it's a big package, but it was supposed to go via air mail and some other items I bought only a little earlier came long ago already. Those other items were so small though that they came in envelopes and this one is a big package, but isn't 1 month still a bit too long time to travel across the pond?

Not neccessarily... I just sent a package to Biggles in NZ, and they say 4-6 weeks, but the lady said think more like 2 months.
• PJHPJH The Lovely Thing
Via air mail? Or by the seas?

Well, if that's the case then I'm not that concerned anymore, but I'm a bit amazed that packages can take that long to travel. I thought that that long shipping times were history already. Oh well... Perhaps I should've chosen the UPS shipping, but it was incredibly expensive.

Got to keep waiting then I guess.

PJH: Let me put it to you this way. It takes sometimes as long as two weeks to send standard mail to someone a mere 2000 miles away here in the US. While I would be concerned, I'd atleast contact the individual to confirm that the package is indeed en route and get a tracking number.

Perhaps we should report the bastard as well. A few more e-mails can't hurt, and it'll at the very least get e-bay's attention.

That package is coming by sea. Packages from Amazon.com, which go by air, usually take 3 weeks to get across the Pacific. NZ has the advantage of being the first stop since America on most flights heading in this direction.

Well, like I said my package is coming by air and it's been on the way 4½ weeks already now. Of course it takes at least a month by sea.

All the packages I have sent overseas were about 4-7 days to arrive via Express Air. Only cost 14 bucks too... not big packages, but they weren't letters either.
• PJHPJH The Lovely Thing
The package was shipped by "Air Parcel Post". I don't know exactly what kind of service and how fast it is, but it's still by air mail. The item in question is an electric guitar, so it's a fairly large package. That was the cheapest shipping method of the available choices though, but I had assumed that any package shipped by air should arrive approx. in 2-3 weeks overseas no matter how big. The big letter size packages I ordered little earlier arrived in about 1½ - 2 weeks IIRC.

Ahh a guitar...

You'll be pleased to know I picked up a, wait for it, DOUBLE NECK, White, GIBSON SG the other week (think Don Felder on Hotel California) for the bargin price of £1,500. I couldnt believe it........

If I had 1500 pounds to spare, it'd be going to a few other things before a guitar. I've never been a guitar person (I play the trumpet).

I'd buy that Alienware that I have been hankering after, or the 21 inch LCD at Futureshop... that picture is better than the tube screen I am looking at right now.

*cough*

Sanfamitek Systems does indeed build custom systems. And it does ship to Canada!

£1,500? Man I wish I had that much to spend on a guitar! The one I bought was much cheaper and a used one. It's an Ibanez JS-100, which is one of the Ibanez' Joe Satriani signature models. I'm planning to buy a JS-1000 too as soon as I get the money for it. But I really wish I could get my hands on a JS-10th Chrome Boy, or a JS90Ham! What a beauties those are! Air Parcel Post is basically the slowest (and cheapest) way to send something over seas if it's a package. You're looking at a month or more since the price is so cheap.

Parcel Post is like FedEx or UPS Ground service. It gets to the destination when the shipping company wants it to. Everything has a priority over parcel post. If you send a first class letter, it gets priority over parcel post.

Thanks very much for the info Striker! If I had known that earlier I would have chosen a faster shipping method for sure. The other choices were just so darn expensive for that size of a package that I chose the cheapest and the UPS, which was the fastest choice was REALLY expensive.

Oh well, I have already waited a month and 3 days, so I guess it should be soon here then.

UPS is well known for taking their time. It takes them 6 days to ship a box thats supposed to arrive in 3 days. Fedex on the other hand acutally cares about how long it takes to ship things. If you select 2 day air, it will be there in two days.

I can vouch for that. My copy of TLJ was supposed to take about a week to get here at top priority from the east coast of the states. It left on a friday in the states and was here by monday. Expensive, but damn did it move fast.
