both !... I make weapons, both for show and for use. ( in training of course)

for the technically minded...

blade = 1245mm(49.01") long, 90to130mm(3.54to5.11")wide, fabricated from 3mm black plate mild steel, four planes MIG welded together. "cutting edge" ( which is a 45deg chamfer rather than a genuine edge) has had a cobalt hard facing applied with an Arc welder. Approximate hardness is 60RC.

Hilt = 365mm(14.37") long, fabricated from 38mm(1.49") solid hex steel shaft, pommel is 61mm(2.4")solid hex, ground by hand with an angle grinder, file finishing to be done later

Cross Guard = 400m(15.7") long, 16x50mm(0.6x1.96") mild steel bar

Total length = 1610mm(63.38")
Total weight = 9kg (20lb)

Unfortunately due to its insane size it really is just an impressive wall hanging ( for foot thick concrete walls I might add.. ), the weight balance is poor...the point of balance lies about 11" in front of the cross guard when the ideal is to have the balance of a blade on the cross guard. That coupled with the fact that its flat out too heavy means its just not a practical weapon, intimidating... yes most assuredly... but someone with any training and speed could defeat you easily. Mind you... any connection with an opponent by the weilder of this blade is likely to be catastophic for the reciever... in fact I've been trying to think of a name for it... something along the lines of "Hitonce", "Singlestrike"... cos one hit is all you would need.

I may address the balance problem by extending the hilt about 8" and try and get the point of balance back... though it is really a moot point... no-one could swing it more than twice even if the balance was perfect.
