First off, let me say that I understand many people wont have recovered from the news yet and I dont want to raise people's hopes only to make things worse if this idea doesnt go ahead.
Nowm down to the idea. I told a friend of mine about the recent news. We're starting our own company (at the moment its nothing too serious, but we plan to change that). Our first and currently only game to be finished is Thirdage in the mod section. Anyway, from what I can tell of your recent post, it is the "entity" that made the decision, not Sierra. With that in mind, I remembered a post along time ago (I dont remember who wrote it) suggesting that all the firstones donate $20 or whatever so that the ITF material could be brought. My friend and I would help with this, but we would also need the help of the S14 team.
I know this is a longshot, but its worth a try.

[b]The only problem with this idea is that even with 2247 of us, we would still have a lot of difficulty getting enough money together. The other problem is that we are spread all over the world and a large number of us don't have credit cards.

Has anyone passed this info on to JMS, I know that he never visited here, but i can't believe that he's not been aware of the attemt through great adversity to get the game published.

IMO, that opens up a whole slew of issues that I wouldn't want to face, as a company. ItF is gone, so again IMO, it's time to move on and get ready for "Legend of the Rangers," hoping that it gets turned into a series by
Sci-Fi.
The loss of this game isn't really that great a loss. The programming and artwork can be done again. What is a great, in fact an enormous loss is the loss of the last unseen footage of the B5 characters on the B5 sets.

btw worf... I'm too thinking of founding a game development studio [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/wink.gif[/img] but i think i'll first try to get a job at NEO (a local studio) to get some inside experience and some basic funding [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/wink.gif[/img]

Note that I have nothing to do with S14 at all - it was just a statement of my personal opinion. When you let fans donate money to fund something, that opens up a whole can of worms I'm guessing most sane companies wouldn't want to get within light years of. There would probably be plenty of legal issues, too, and potential for some very messy issues.
Again just IMO, I don't think we're likely to see a decent, professional B5 game ever be released. It's, unfortunately, probably more likely we'll see "Pro Bullrider 3, now in Vibrant Smell-O-Vision."
Plus, it's probably a lot healthier to realize ItF is dead and buried, and move on to the next thing.

...either there will be a Legend of the Rangers series into its 2nd or 3rd year or B5 won't be showing anything new on TV...the market for the game will erode some.
No offense, but I'd hold a lot more confidence in Rick, Jack, Randy and the rest of the dev team's efforts up until this announcement of the end than any B5 fans putting together a good, commercially-released B5 game. I'm simply being realistic. I'd lay down good money (if I had money at all) that it'd never happen.
