Microsoft/Xbox Project Natal

MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Its a motion (actually more of a body) recognition program. I thought I posted it here, since we talked about it in fencing school, but here you go:

Want to see someone actually using it and not just a previs demo?

if it can really do all they are advertising it can do, it's kick ass.

But I highly doubt it can.

Several months ago, I had an opportunity to meet with some Microsoft folks to learn about alternate mechanisms for user interaction. Most of what I saw centered around Surface, but I was also allowed the chance to fiddle with a technology demonstrator for a project for which I was given no name.

It was Natal, and it is even better than it seems in videos. The version I saw was only equipped for body tracking (so no speech/facial recognition), but it worked beautifully. My favorite part? Multi-gesture tracking and recognition.
