Geez doesn't time fly eh?? And its great to see that B5 is still alive and well and more than likely embarking on a new journey, esp with its birthday so close to the premier of LOTR.

Hmm should I run down to the shop and buy a little cake, some candles, and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY as an episode of B5 plays away in the vcr? Hmmm, perhaps not... still though a virtual toast to Babylon 5, and the lives it has helped enrich since it was launched!

I remember the first time I saw Midnight on the Firing Line. Its still a few months away before that was 8 years ago, living in the UK and such.

I was 10 at the time and I tried to get my friends to watch it but they refused to, oh well, their loss.

Happy B-Day B5!!!! I wasn't there @ the start and I only realised what i was missing towards the end of season 4...so i hav 2 watch many episodes yet b4 i can say i hav seen the lot....my loss. hope it has many more years to come.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
I can just remember the first time I saw B5. The episode was GROPOS. It was just such an interesting story, along with some neat effects as a bonus!

The first epsiode I saw was Infection, and as I was a young wanna be archaeologist at the time, I was fascinated by it... set in space, futuristic archaeologists, ancient organic artifacts millions of years old... god I was in heaven! Problem was it was on at 2.00 in the afternoon on C4 in the Uk, and I was usually in school. I just happened to be home for a dentist thing or something... and we didn't have a vcr either... so I missed all of Season 1 and finally got reintroduced just before Shadow Dancing in Season 3.

And speaking of Birthdays... its 2 years this month since I became a member of this site! Cool! I know I'm not a Firstone/Lorien type from the beginnings of 1999, but I feel like a Vorlon at least.

• 8 years ago, a schedual conflict between B5 and my weekly Cubs meeting meant that I couldn't watch B5.

Once upon a time, I saw the trailer for "the Gathering" and became interested. I watched it and the following episode and the next one...
I've seen it all, the greatest TV show in my opinion!

I was there in the beginning. (Well it was a *bit* later here in Germany than in the US.)
I have seen all episodes in their first German run.

• Been there since the beginning. I thought The Gathering was okay, except for the scene where Sinclair described his blackout experience on the Line. That had me riveted and thinking that there was more to this show than met the eye.

The end of season 1 left me in a cold sweat, and by season 3 I had discarded Trek and all it's clowns er.. clones in favour B5. In case anyone's wondering why it took me so long, it's because the station that hosted the show, the B.B.S., which will forever be known to us Canadian B5 firstones, as the B.S , kept bouncing around the timeslot ad nauseum.

Here's to the show that set the new standard for sci-fi. Now I'll just be climbing the walls until we get LotR here in Canada

• i live in Portugal, and although i'm happy about B5 being so great in the US, i'm also very sad for here in PT (portugal), sci-fi series never gain good audiences. so B5 only was on the air for a couple of months...

Hey, at least it's warm there... We haven't seen B5 for years here in Finland anymore... and we're freezing our balls off.

Boy, I'm kinda surprised at how many people here didn't start watching the series from the very beginning.
I started following B5 back in 1992, about 4-5 months before the pilot aired. It was a hell of a ride.

The first thing I remember hearing about was when a guy living in my dorm in college asked me if I'd heard about this new sci-fi series that was going to be using Amigas for the special effects (at the time, he and I were the only Amiga users that I knew of on campus).

I missed alot of B5 episodes because I only got interested in it when Channel 4 was showin repeats....@ 4am in the morning...and it was b4 i knew how to use the VCR so often I wud forget or remember but just not b able 2 tape it....lol, now i get the videos.o yeah and 4 any1 in the Uk, i saw the enire series of B5 in several "publishers outlet" shops like "The works", etc. for buy 1 get 1 free, and videos r priced £3.00 each, so u get 2 for £3...i was thrilled and got all of season 5 in one go! however this was a couple of weeks ago so they might've gone. sum1 might find this useful.....

In an effort to not just frivolously bump this message I decided to post this image from days long past when it was posted with other promo images prior to the Babylon 5 pilot being aired.
