it would be o so lovely if Havas completely folded up the Sierra tent...

gives them so much less grasp on ex-Sierra assets

Sierra Entertainment, Inc., is a studio of Vivendi Universal Publishing

I think at this Moment it is not important if Sierra is named "Sierra Online" or "Sierra Entertainment" or any other name. I think Sierra is a well known company, a label. I think, only for this reason Sierra was up to now not renamed into names like " Vivendi Universal Publishing" or another company-name.

And only "Vivendi Universal Publishing" is the great concern behind the scenes.

But that 's not all. "Vivendi Universal Publishing" belongs to "Vivendi Universal".

That 's economy.

I wish they would just give up the Sierra name altogether. Then they would no longer be destroying the legend.

• I agree Biggles. I loved the old Sierra before it was taken over by all these big media firms. Ohh...those were the days of Quest for Glory, King's Quest, Willy Beamish, the Incredible Machine...

I still have those games though.

Willy Beamish ROCKED! I just wished that you could hang that damn little sister... Actually, now that I actually think of it, WB was really a damn good adventure game as far as the genre goes. A large number of the probs had at least 2 solutions to them... not something you see today.

I loved the old Sierra Online firm, too. I like the Games ( on Amiga ) Larry 1-5 and any other Sierra - Games...

But this time is no more.
And I am very sad about these realization.

What exactly happened with Sierra, when did Ken and Roberta lose control?

No, it was 3 years ago when Oakhurst was shut down.

Ahhh yeah thats what i thought, interesting article, I used to love that company, the quest games were the best, i was very excited back in the late 80's that i actually got an email from Ken! heh.

its sad to see what happened to one of the pioneers of gaming.

• When Ken sold the company (I think that's what happened), he lost full control, and that meant it
was just a matter of time before the idiot suits came in and messed everything up.

There is no substitute for having a gamer run a game company.

It's ironic how at the time (when the company was being sold), I thought "Good, maybe this place will finally be run professionally" -Ken was notoriously fickle, and impulsive, and a micromanagement fiend. I guess I should be more careful about what I wish for.

I guess professional doesn't equal well.

Don't kid yourself...

What took over wasn't all that professional...
