• Everyone is not saying anything because nobody wants to put them at a disadvantage in the bargining process. The fact that nobody has said anything is a "good" sign.

Now that doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface but it does.

or JMS knows he is pushing a Dud...

tho I havent see it myself yet... from what unspoilered reports I've had...

it's looking awfully yellow, dimply, ovoid with a little green bit on the end and belonging to the citrus family...

which saddens me on all sorts of levels

I don't think JMS thinks it's a dud. He said that in the areas unaffected by the football game, the ratings not only exceeded their expectations, but the ratings INCREASED later in the show--which is almost unheard of.
• Apart from the ratings... which have been discussed here and elsewhere:

I believe that this film was targeted primarily at ST fans or non-B5 fans. And, it was done so very carefully, I feel.
With a series made it should have a huge market in respect to the (relatively few) hardcore B5 fans.

Anyway, the numbers get processed and discussed over and over, I am sure. Which is basically a good thing because that means a solid basis for a series should it come. Plus, I think that before coming to a final conclusion and releasing an official statement, JMS and SciFi would want to discuss changes (at least in broad sketches) that should be made to make the show more successful.

Hope and pray .

I'm just afraid that he set himself too high a bar with B5 and Crusade. I know people say that it takes a few episodes for a new series to really get going, for the actors to figure out how to work together, but most people who don't remember the first episodes of B5 won't think to give him that time.

Also, the first episodes of Crusade (the ones that were not written at the request of TNT) were quite good. They had more the feel of the B5 universe, and the characters seemed to me to mesh better. Separate story from B5, perhaps, but a parallel one. In the same world. LOTR just feels.... different. Like a parallel universe, where everything seems the same, only it's.... not.

Having not seen it yet I can't judge it but with anything B5 I will still enjoy it

Could be because this story has more Mimbari perspective, or at least seems to have. B5 and Crusade were definatley Human oriented.

I think the actors did quite well with the dialog they were given, and the VFX can be fixed and upgraded in the series.
