Another idea, along the lines of the movie, is a little more simple, a lot easier to do, and accessible to more people. We need a Flash 4 Intro to [url="http://www.firstones.com."]www.firstones.com.[/url] A Flash intro can deliver a bigger bang for you buck, bandwidth wise of course.

A MPEG movie is great, but it takes a long time to download something that large. I know, my brother is making an MPEG movie for Tribes right now. I'll link you to the movie as soon as it's up to see what he did. It's really quite amazing.

Anyways, if anybody is interested in making a flash intro, send an email my way at [email]Teflonatron@hotmail.com[/email] . We can trade ideas back and forth, critic eachothers work, and come up with a final product that everyone likes [img]http://www.firstones.com/forums/smile.gif[/img]

    I think that would suck. I come here for news, not to watch movies. Unless you have a T1 or something as fast, it can take forever to view a flash movie.

    I think it's a good idea and can be made into a reasonably small flash animation.

    Keeping it small would be a priority. I should be no larger than 300k or so, the size of a big picture. It would also stream to you, so even modem users shouldn't notice a big delay. I would of course supply a 'skip' button, to allow those who don't want to watch the intro to skip past it. Maybe also provide a 'high bandwidth' intro for those who have a high speed connection.

    Well nothing against a flash ( i think their pretty cool too) But despise the drawbacks, an mpeg would probably be more entertaining in the long run.

    My plans are for something short simple and to the point. Here's what I was going to do, but I know I don't have the facts sorted out. I need to get that done before I can continue on with the flash intro.

    This is very simple, and has no graphics. It could be placed as an intro to the firstones website, if Drazi Guy approves of course [img]http://www.firstones.com/forums/smile.gif[/img] The [b]----------[/b] denote a break in scenes (fade in/out black).

    Also, if anybody has an image of the Babylon 5 symbol that I can use, let me know, or link it here. I'd sorta like to get official permission to use it too.

    Also maybe some really cool music that would go with the above theme. I'm looking for something majestic, moving, and grandeous. More than likely a musical score, like instrumental. Maybe some nice B5 music? Post your suggestions below [img]http://www.firstones.com/forums/smile.gif[/img]

    I know I'll already provide a skip button, but I'll look into a way to detect if you've already seen the intro. Maybe a cookie or something....

    Just make a mpeg movie, with different versions: one for low-end connections around 10-20 mb and a better version for faster connections?

    Has anyone started making the movie yet?

    I like Flash over any mpeg.

    10 to 20 Meg file can take hours even with a 56K connection.
