MICROPROSE

Did anyone look into Microprose? They are big on flight sims and publishing company games.

Here's a link that instructs where people can go if they want their game published.

From one company owned by a French coorporation to another...not a good idea.
Microprose was made to cancel a bunch of great games a little while ago, including the Falcon series.

Microprose is another company thats decided to concentrate on "kiddies" games. ie anything that'll port over easily to a playstation.

Maybe they should try a Barbie v Sindy fps?

I've always had the greatest regard for Microprose as they made IMHO the best kick ass flight sims in the world. (F-15 / Falcon series etc.) It's just a shame that most of the big companies are not making games that require a little research and development and can't be converted to work on those damn consoles!

yeah i can't wait for b-17 2 either, but I haven't heard anything about it. I've e-mailed the company to see if they were still making it.

I just got word that Microprose is still in the Simulation business. Here's what they had to say when I questioned the status of B-17 II:

Thank you for your inquiry! We are pleased to announce the release of
B17
Flying Fortress by MicroProse.
Command the supreme daylight bomber of World War II. Master each of
the ten
crew member roles. Navigate accurately across Europe. Locate and bomb
strategic targets and defend the plane from furious enemy attacks.
Breathtaking air combat sequences through photo-realistic terrain makes
it
all feel incredibly real.
It is tentatively scheduled for release in late summer 2000. When
released
it will be available from major software and games retailers as well as
direct from Hasbro through our Online Store at www.hasbrointeractive.com or
by calling 1-800-400-1352.
Any new information on the title will be found at www.microprose.com.
We appreciate your interest in Hasbro Interactive and MicroProse!

The "Sim Column" of the March 2000 PC Gamer talks about Microprose and Hasbro's plans for it. According to Microprose's marketing director, development work will proceed on B-17 II, Gunship, and Tank Platoon; however, once those games have completed development, that's it for military sims. Supposedly, "if future market and business conditions are favorable to release simulation games", they might consider getting back into the sim business, but, as Andy Mahood (the column's writer) points out, that's just "standard corporate rhetoric".

Simply put, Microprose has all but ceased to exist as a military sim developer/publisher and any chance of their developing and releasing new sims (other than the Roller-Coaster Tycoon variety) has gone right down the toilet (and Microprose along with it).
