Great!!! I can't stop playing it. But be sure you have a good system. The requirements are steep.

One of the coolest PC only features (besides better graphics) is you can put your own music in.

My list:
- Going Up The Country (Canned Heat)
- Welcome to the Jungle (Guns n' Roses)
- Long Tall Sally (Little Richard)
- Rock and Roll (Led Zeppelin)
- It Feels Good to be a Gangster (Getto Boys)

There are more but I can't remember... must... play... Grand... Theft... Aut...

Sounds good. I really wanted to get it today, but I will probably get it tommorow.
Does anyone have the same problem that I do? I like to get lots of PC games. It is kind of an obsession... Any sugestion for getting rid of it? I just see new games and they look really cool. So then I want to get it (most of the time I don't, but I do end up buying more often than I would like to admit). Well, its late, so you can ignore this rambling if you want.

It ran like treacle on my main pc, so I have to play it on my work pc..

Its the worst port of a game since SimCity 2000 on the Amiga!! It seems to be a rushed port, they could do much better, its a great game though, if you can get it to play well!

Yep, it's nearly as bad as First Encounters Bug wise

Going on whats been said over at GTA3s forums how it plays on a system (at least above the recommended spec) seems to be pretty much random. With some people with 700Mhz PIII machines & GeForce 2 MX graphics outperforming others with high spec PIV and Althon XP systems.

Definitly runs like crap on my system (Athlon XP 1600 512 MB & GeForce 3 Ti 200), I can only run in 640*480*16 without serious lag. Even then it usualy starts to lag after about half an hour (Pos memory leak??).

It is a very fun game to play & definitly addictive, but it is in desperate need of a patch to fix performance issues (not to mention remove all the bumf that they have left in the code, such as partly implemented multiplayer)

There is currently an independent patch being written (by modders not Rockstar....) to help with performance problems and to try and fix some of the naff code.

Thx for the info Hokalus!

Do you have any links for this patch (information etc..)?

I'm runnign it on an Athlon T-Bird 850, with 448 megs of ram and a TNT2 32 meg video card. and it runs just fine 90% of the time, IF there are a lot of Pedestrians about then it slows down, but its still playable.

The only thing i'd say to anyone planning on buying it for the PC, is make sure you have a PS style Gamepad, it works much better than a regular joystick or the keyboard.
• HokalusHokalus Trainee
Yep it's a right pain in the ass driving with the keyboard, much easier with a nice analog pad

I have a 1.8 GH Pentium 4 with 500 and some MB ram, and a Radeon 8500. Have there been any problems with the Radeon card?

Oh, I forgot to ask. IS it that bad using a mouse/keyboard combo?

Bad? It's the best. I prefer the tried-and-true kb/m combination above all others.

Now, When playing the game, here is what I found:

1) Turn off trails. This appears to be terribly buggy. Turning it off solved many problems for me, including the "Blocky text" glitch.
2) Disable any running antivirus programs. Just do it.
3) Install the latest version of DirectX (again, if you must).

This is what made thew game playable for me.
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Well, a couple people had said that you need a PS style pad, but I always use the mouse/keyboard combo. I dont have anything else. Thanks. I should be off to buy it in the next couple hours...

There's an option to use a gamepad/joystick, but I don't know why they'd do it, except for tradition.

I just find the gamepad easier to use.

If your on the second island, the parking garage just across from your save garage. Enter it and go up to the top floor. On the upmost deck in the left corner is a neat platform. You can use it to perform some awesome stunts, or you can use it as a sniper post...

Also make sure you drive a number of different vehicles just for fun, grab a semi or a fire truck....hehehe.
• VladVlad Earthforce Officer
Running it on a Radeon 7500/Athlon 1.4ghz system, and while I do have to drop the res to 640x480x16, it runs nice and smooth on all 3 islands. After a while, you don't even notice the lower resolution. The game is just THAT good.

Welcome to the beginning of the part of the game where you can complete a mission multiple ways. I've heard about 3 different ways of beating this mission. Here's a hint for the easiest solution to Asuka's first mission:

Take a look at the building across from Luigi's club. Mainly, look in the alley to the side of it.

Then check out the selection at the Ammunation in Staunton... the answer should point to itself.
