Well, let's consider positioning. I say either on the sides of the cockpit (where Garibaldi's Daffy Duck is) of on the left upper and lower wings, oppisit the EA flash and at a similer size so as not to obscure any wing art.

a good logo needs very little reference to its origins..... a passing resemblance may be all that is needed...
if I said 'Horse' would you immediately think 'car' ? modes of transport yes but the latter killed the place in society the former enjoyed. So not really benefical symbology.....
but if I said Mustang.... you either go Ford CAR or a bloody WW2 Fighter.
to go completely overboard.... what possible relevance does a bloody scallop shell have to a an oil company ? ( Shell the Oil giant for the brain dead)

and you show me the definitive Babylon Five Canon style guide for everything graphic design.... and then tell me why I should follow it seeing as it is not a company or a small concern but a whole FREAKIN UNIVERSE !..... besides which.... were does Art stop and reality begin ? if I use the typographic or design cues from the series then am I not painting "exterior" packaaging of the show into the universe ?

Actually, that wasn't sarcasm. I actually wanted to know if that was the sort of thing he wanted. Just to see how much B5 he wanted in the logo.

Well, just to throw in my opinion on THIS... I think the fact that we are PLAYING a B5 game pretty much makes a B5 related icon irrelevant, plus, what if you're flying a minbari nial or something... a picture of the station would not make sense... I think the goal here is not to make a B5 or ITF icon, but a FIRSTONES icon.... so it should represent our community, not necessarily the game.. ideally it should be something that would make sense for firstones to use in other games as well, methinks
I don't think it could be regarded as being in the B5 style, but then that obviously wasn't the intent. It's a great indicator of a fan group, similar to the ASCII jumpgate ("<*>") below.
So, YES, and I would prefer an even straighter flame, more of a tic tjam a tear-drop.

I think you should keep the "shadow legs" for flame.
Two reasons
1 Symbolises "the Darkness" that we have all been through to get to where we are today.
2 Symbolises that "the Darkness" is behind us now and we are "blasting upwards" to a new hope.

New bulit old flames. Maybe put a bit of white in the middle the flame.
Maybe reverse the black and white in the bulit so it shows up better on a dark surface.
