I dont like the "Freelancer" part though. "classics like Wing Commander and Starlancer" would be a LOT better.

Money is currently made in sequels of popular franchises.

There doesn't seem to be any decent helicopter simulation on the market right now either. At least none that I'm aware of that is any good.

Stingray: Black Shark, Eagle Dynamics' first entry of the DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) series, is due to release later this year.

This comes from the developers of Lock On: Modern Air Combat, and focuses on the Russian Ka-50 Black Shark attack helicopter.

I've just gotten my hands on [URL="http://www.condorsoaring.com/"]www.condorsoaring.com[/URL] which is a gliding simulator. As often, the screenshots don't tell the whole story. It's a lot better in motion.

Having done some soaring myself in the past, I can attest to the realism of "game" as it was designed by and with the help of soaring enthusiasts. I haven't tried the multi-player aspect yet as I need more practice. As in real life, the hard part is still the efficient use of thermals to gain altitude.

It's nice to see still a few independent software developers who can produce little gems like this.

I'm afraid, it's probably because I'm trying to play this on a laptop. I can't expect the impossible. The gliding simulation only plays well because it is a lot less graphics intensive. I won't bother trying Crysis on this rig. :D

So it's with integrated graphic decelerator or one of those "new generation" GPUs which is slower than couple generation old top models...

I was thinking of digging out the IWar games just the other day actually. Still cant beat the intro movie for IWar 1; it [i]was[/i] a movie!
