Just what the world needs, another browser war. ;)

tried it a bit. it's quite fast, but there are featuress I use daily that I got on opera so isn't going to switch yet. :)
• I really like it. The interface is clean and nifty.

However I really dislike Google as a company. Using their search engine and other services is just so easy and efficient, yet I know I'm paving the way for a worse monopoly than Microsoft.

Yet I can't bring myself to switch the default search engine back to Windows Live in IE7 (my main browser). Sigh.

• some features, awesome. Others..not so much.

It loads fast, and is lightweight, and does better on the Acid3 test than Firefox3.

But it has no extentions. So it fails.

They are going to remove part 11: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080903-google-on-chrome-eula-controversy-our-bad-well-change-it.html
• But that's not all, folks: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10031661-56.html?tag=newsLeadStoriesArea.0

Firefox will suffer big for this. Most of their income stems from pointing their search engine box at google.com which they've renewed with G until 2010 (I think). But I would imagine all bets are off after that.

Safari will also take a big hit but then their Windows effort hasn't really achieved much since its release.

Mozilla has been working on other sources of revenue for a while now, but I think it is both in their best interest to continue to be in this relationship. Google's real target is Microsoft which has been wanting to get more into internet search and advertisement.
• If it had advertising blockers, and extentions (eg. firefox, I love you) then it might win me over.

As of right now? Hell no.

Everyone seems to think this is google's attempt to enter the browser war. It's not. It's their attempt to push for the standardization of certain technologies and protocols across the competition to make *their* web applications and interests more accessible. They've apparently caused Microsoft to look into extending functionality of IE8 to include some of Chrome's feature set, so I do believe it is achieving this goal.

I'll come back when they release their OS.

They are no doubt planning to establish a platform, but I believe their larger goal is to still minimize the effort and workload necessary to achieve a state where their apps can run across as many platforms as possible. Chrome has set the bar high, and both IE8 and Firefox are set to match.
