Oh we had turkey, 24 pounds of it, and a 16 pound ham, and like 16 people. when my parents owned a Restaurant we used to do a big potluck for anyone who didn't have family to go to for thanksgiving. Now that we've bought our own house, we kind of continued the tradition with out first annual Thanksgiving for the Thankless. pretty much any of our friends who had no family to go to were invited, the only rule, bring something, anything. a dish, a snack, drinks, doesnt matter.

it was a rather huge success. a good time was had by all.

    Entil,

That is a really cool idea! Just anyone else's thanksgiving, but without all the emotional baggage of a family!

That usually happens when the big bird spends too much time in the oven. Isn't there a rule of thumb that allows you to determine the time it takes by the weight of the animal? Considering how long this tradition exists, someone must have figured that one out. :D
