Is IT Our Fault, That We Dont Have A B5 Game?????
I was thinking about this when i was on the can... yes its where i have most memorbal thinking..
Anyways.. could it be our fault that we dont have a B5 game remember when they first cannccled it and we all signed a boycott against Serria (god i cant speel to day [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] ) and sent alot of hate mail to them! maybe in the end they decided that it was a way at getting us back for everything that we did to them?
I dono its just an idea i had

Where would we be then? We would have quietly let B5:ItF slip away, and other game companies would notice that no one cared about the cancellation of a B5 game.
By speaking out about our desire to se ItF finished, we show that there IS demand for a B5 game. Also, don't call it "hate mail". I'm sure there was some nasty hate mail, but that's not what moves mountains... it's polite, firm, concise and well-written letters that make the difference. Don't assume that we all just poured our anger onto paper and tried to topple Sierra with it. I for one avoided "hate mail" at all costs, as it tends to do more harm than good.
Maybe ItF won't see the light of day, but our persistence in trying to save it may help a future B5 game to be made.

The impression I have of Sierra is that they are quite spiteful, but I would have thought that profit would overcome any spite. Therefore they [b]should[/b] have made the game, but they didn't as we all know.

I think the person or persons who made the mess at Sierra got very scared at our responce to the cancelation, and didn't want to give in to our demands, as it would have hurt their precious business pride, Classic scenario of we made a mistake but we will never admit to it....

But you can continue to make a difference by telling publishers and studios that this is the kind of game you want--especially when B5:LotR comes to SciFi.

Sierra made a political/financial decision. Unfortunately, though none of the ex-devs have said anything, it looks like all the other publishers/developing houses have reviewed the financial viability of making this game and turned it down based on marketing numbers as well. This seems to indicate to me as a marketing guy myself that the estimated market is either not large enough, the potential revenue and profit not high enough, or the development schedule not short enough to meet the criteria for a title they are willing to publish [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/frown.gif[/img]
If anything it is the fault of B5 not having 30 years of play time to build a huge fan base willing to throw money at any product with the name on it! [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/frown.gif[/img]

That would be a great fairy tale ending... SciFi saves Crusade, launches new B5 Space Simulator. I can just see the headlines now. It would actually be an interesting venture for them. They do have quite a wide audiance, and they could quite easily sell the game through those channels. All they'd have to do is talk to WB, get a design team together (i wonder who?? [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/wink.gif[/img]), and get to work.
If only it were that simple.....
