Sorry to report to our Blender fans here, but the company that makes Blender has filed for bankruptcy! Bugger, I was just going to start messing with their OS X version. It looked really good too!

Hopefully someone will buy the software.....

    Actually, C is the most likely, as blender was unprofitable in the first place.

    Rather than opening the source (which would require money), they could just ignore it and leave it as it is.

    Actually...they had a pretty good way of earning money...

    You see, Blender has a thing called a steep learning curve.

    Blender doesn't come with a downloadable manual.

    you can buy the manual...for 40$
    Oh! oh! Blender now has support for games! You'll have to buy another manual for that!another 40$
    Ohhhh...t-shirts. 30$ please.

    They were making money, and seeing as how all the aformentioned products were always sold out....I don't think it was Blenders fault NAN went under. Another of their projects? most likely.

    The chances of NAN opening the source are fairly good actually. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] (according to the little info being leaked to the cummunity, but of course, they are looking for another company to fund blender foremost, if that fails, most likely it'll be open source).

    The blender community is alot like the ITF comunity. Devs and users communicated alot, and it's a tight community for it's size (300,000+)
