This is a letter I recieved. The only good thing to come of it is the fact that it kind of drawsa nice parallel with Babylon Five.... at last count we've had three attempts at building this Babylon project... and this still born one makes Four...

Won't happen. Flat-out. WB will never function in the kind of
scenario you
propose; if the group or company can't pony up money and control the
situation more than is described here, and put out an actual product
with a
distribution and marketing plan, they'll just never go for it. It's
not even
a conversation I can have with them, those are the rules they apply
to every
show or movie.

  • Don't be disappointed, shadow boxer (Jeez, your name points to it: You've been trying to fight with your bare hands against a far to powerful opponent).

Although worth trying, it was nearly impossible to receive a positive answer. For WB as a company, B5 is simply a trademark to make money with. Your proposal would mean for them to cast doubt on their business which they simply won't do.

heh. JMS shoots the case down for anohter try Well, I say we try again, and again, and again, and again, and again...

I would suggest that if you stay on this course, don't involve JMS. If you pursue this, I'd only deal with Warner Brothers, and say nothing about any involvement or response from JMS.

    Just a suggestion.

I doubt that JMS is actually against it, but he knows that WB wouldn't want to do something like this with him, and legally he can't say much anyway.

I would say if you want to continue, leave him out of it.

Thats how we should handle Sierra ,not WB.
If Sierra would donate the IP to our cause that would give our community project more credibility and maybe WB would show more interest.

We should probably find out if Sierra still has the IP.
