IIRC, None of this is known. There is a slight peek at the possible location of Z'Ha'Duum from some of the maps used in the series, but nothing else is really sure.
• JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
Coriana 6 wasn't it?
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
No, that's where they lured the Vorlons and the Shadows for the big final conflict. The information about where Zha'Ha'Dum is located is never given more specifically than "near the edge of the galaxy" as far as I can remember.

• I was said in the show that it was somewhere on the rim, which is near the edge of the galaxy isn't it?
Mind you, that would probably make Earth near the rim.

Not quite. "The Rim" isn't the edge of the known galaxy (not quite sure what that means). It's the edge of explored space. Z'Ha'Dum could possibly be closer to the center of the galaxy...
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
Sorry folks but everytime someone says "the rim" or " gone beyond the rim" I think of someone very small standing on the edge of the toilet rim.... jumping to thier end.... into the loo.... "beyond the rim"...

fitting I guess for some things..... ITF is one of those... poigniant and painful as it is...

Earth is near the edge of the galaxy. We're in the end of one of the spiral arms, very close to the edge, considering how big the galaxy is.

According to B5 security manual Z'Ha'dum is located at sector 250, Coriana 6 is in sector 175 and the Vorlon HW is in sector 550..

Za`Ha Dum has to be close enough for IPX to visit it and begin studies from an Earth point of view...

Isn't the Rim reserved for First and Second Ones...

Sectors make no sense without the map...

• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
It's beyond the rim that is reserved.

And the rim isn't all that far away, so IPX could get there easily in hyperspace. Provided they know where to drop out.

The IPX designation for the system Z'ha'dum was in is Alpha Omega.

They knew something we didn't, didn't they?

Many of you seem to be neglecting the fact that "the Rim" is a loose term to describe the edge of known space....this means it varies from race to race. For human's, Za'ha'dum was on the rim. For Minbari it was most likly something else (Earth maybe at the beginning of the Earth/Minbari war?), for Lorien and the rest of the First Ones, "The Rim" probably takes on a whole new meaning.
• samuelksamuelk The Unstoppable Mr. 'K'
Melkor, that's actually what I was saying, although I think you've got one part wrong.

"The Rim" was pretty much the same for all of the major races.

I'd imagine that the Minbari shared their knowledge of star maps with the Humans/Centauri/etc.

Besides, all of the B5 characters who mentioned "The Rim" seemed to be referring to the same locations (i.e., the fact that Z'Ha'Dum was located at the edge of The Rim, and about the FirstOnes passing behind The Rim).

And just to note, the correct spelling is Z'Ha'Dum, not "Za'Ha'Dum".

Interesting triva: As I recived my introduction to B5 through books, I thought Z'ha'dum was pronounced Z'ha'dumb.
• MelkorMelkor Elite Ranger
SamK, if you are talking about at the end of the Shadow War, then yes, I would have to agree with you that "The Rim" refered to the same place. However I don't believe this was the case at and around the time of the Earth/Minbari war. I mean, most races were pretty separate at that point and had NO reason to share information.

However I still believe that when Lorien or any of the other "First Ones" said it, their idea of "The Rim" is something entirely different. I mean think about it.
• samuelksamuelk The Unstoppable Mr. 'K'
Actually, at the time of the E/M war, the Centauri and Narn had already shared quite a bit of info with the humans. And while the humans had not had contact with the Minbari, the Centari and the Narn (and other races) had.

So I think even back then, The location of The Rim was common.

Though the interior of some territorys were likely a bit nebulis, IE Minbari territory being a big blotch with "Here be blue fish." scrawled on it.

The rim, and the "veil" beyond which the bulk of the First Ones passed, is the Galactic rim - JMS

The Rim is the edge of explored or known space - JMS

IPX finds a Shadow ship buried beneath the surface of Mars at Syrian Planum. As soon as it was exposed to daylight, an automatic beacon on board sent out a coded message. Three days later another Shadow ship turns up to dig the first ship out of the ground. When it leaves, IPX is able to track it through hyperspace to a world that is described both as out on the Rim and “Alpha Omega 3”, which is what we used in the game. ("Message from Earth"). (Z'Ha'Dum") (N-The Shadow Within).

Don't tell me. It was tracked toward Jupiter, and a mission was launched with the secret objective to find out what it was sent to. On the way, all the crew save one were killed in a computer malfunction, and the remaining occupant vanished while investigating a giant version of the first black artifact in orbit around Io.

• In the Beginning :
Valen wants to travel to Z'HaDum , appearently the course from minbar to ZHaDum leads through EA territory. We have a galactic map . made with all the info we have.

We also use it as reference for our mod :

You're probably thinking of Bespin...that's where the Cloud City was (seen in the Empire Strikes Back).
• GNonGNon Trainee
nice map

some of the empire names are wrong though

Abbai is a Matriarchy
Brakiri are a Syndicracy
Drazi are a Freehold
Vree have the Trading Guilds
• JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
Z'Ha'Dum is in the lower left corner of the map... sort of a redish color...

Hey Marc, you still have the map we were going to use on Itf?
