cgi peoples i gots a question/proposition.

we're writing a full length movie, to be our biggest project to date. it's gonna be serious/horror, so to make it fly we need a few cgi screens to be put in with blue screen... we have everything cept the cgi.

like 2 scenes, not involving characters or anything, basically its a portal. think like a whirl pool type thing, only its behind a door. the scene is that we walk through this door and end up some where else... you dont see the portal walking into it, but you do upon you coming out.

Hey, you'd be surprised how some common objects and situatiosn can be cropped, distorted, and accelerated/slowed to produce something very different!

Want streams? Try your local toilet. wind? An elevator shaft or ventilated stairwell. Muted pots and marbles can make great ricochets, and thunder is easy as a sheet of negative film (X-ray film is the best, IMHO)

A shaver in a metal bowl makes a great futuristic mechanical noise.

I also found how to make the most amazing ambient noise. Using a 9" metal dish on a string, you slowly tap it with an eraser, then add some water to it and move it around a bit.
It has to be one of the most amazing creepy ambient sounds.

    Same.

Anyone know how to make the sound of a thruster firing?

Fire a thruster and record the sound.
