Why the Big Secret?

ArgoneArgone Genuine Klingon
I read this and it reminded me of things they used to do in the 60's

Do they think the general public is so stupid as to not understand the truth?

  • Even when people have the truth sat staring them in the face they're more than happy to argue the opposite - put simply, I wouldn't trust most of us with the truth...

It’s possible that governments hold their cards close to their chests, when it comes to UFO and related phenomena, in case whatever is known holds the potential for a tactical advantage, but another thought comes to mind. What if the government has gained knowledge of a clean, supper efficient power source? Our knee-jerk reaction would be, “Cool. Let us have it,” but a lot of world economy is based on the petroleum industry. Imagine the destabilizing effects of the sudden availability of a power source that completely antiquates the use of oil, or even nuclear power? These industries and the way they are integrated into society and the world economy can’t change over night. Knowledge of a new power source would have to be ‘leaked’ slowly so that the changeover could be made without causing havoc. The problem may be that no one knows for sure exactly what the 'truth' is. It's possible that the disclosure of government-held information would include the fact that world governments are powerless against a pervasive unknown. What if it became known, absolutely, that extraterrestrials are here, doing their own thing, and we can’t figure out what they're up to, and the world militaries are completely helpless against this potential threat? What would that do to social stability?

That and are people really going to believe the other potential truth? that nothing is happening.

That there are weird things, we have no clue what they are and we shrug it off (there is this bizzare dancing light effect down in Arizona or someplace, nobody can figure that out at all)

Its easier to prove a conspiracy exists then to prove it doesnt.

  • LOL, that's great jack.

I have to give a thumbs up to Tyvar though. Though, maybe I'm on the Fed payroll. Hmm...
  • I would say the smart, more well educated and non-religious logically thinking people would be more likely to be able to handle the truth.

However those people are unfortunatly in the minority.

The world stability thing is a ridiculous huge excuse and does not justify keeping such a revolutionizing information held secret. That kind of a matter is SO big, that nothing could justify it. No certain instances, or persons has right to know exclusively if there is anykind of evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence existing. That kind of information should be made public immediately after such an evidence had possibly been found. In my eyes, keeping in secret that kind of information would be a huge crime against human population.

Every single person has right to know the truth.

even iuf it causes their usually mild-mannered religious next-door noighbor to axe-murder them ?
  • In certain parts of the US they can't even teach evolutionary theory as part of a science curriculum, so I'd love to know how the evidence of extraterrestrial life would go down...

Whilst I'd heartedly advocate freedom of information, I do think there's a good case for keeping sensitive information out of general circulation - it's quite obvious that there are great numbers of people out there completely unsuitable to have widescale access to everything we've discovered as a race...

It raises interesting questions, however, as to what the criteria would be for the individuals, or groups thereof, who would make such decisisons with regards to the distribution of information.

Im not on the federal payroll, nor have I been implanted with any microchips in my brain, I promise (actualy I think I could use a microchip in my brain, it might help me rember my chinese lessons )

Anyways, I dont know about the particular story mentioned, but alot of these things that have army trucks rolling up and loading something up end up being false you know.

crap weird stuff happens, get used to it, its not part of a conspiracy, its just well weird stuff, the universe isnt COMPLETELY orderly you know.

Oh and the dancing light phenomenan I was refering to happens at ground level, its like swamp gas, without the swamp, and it disapates when ever people approach..

The government routinely impounds asteroids as they are nifty cool, and they want to play with them. Oh sure they might contain harmfull elements, or potential for weird bio-hazards (that one is really iffy) but no, they seceretly break em up and turn them into paper weights, its one of the perks of the job you know?

Seriously though, I think some of it is more tied into certain crazier black bag projects, that part of the reason they arent releasing the documentation now, is it was so black, nobody was even sure what the hell they were doing. The only people who knew the whole story are dead, and it was never written down (it happens)

I mean look at the "Philidelphia experiment" You know how that got out of hand, yeah, the navy teleporting destroyer escorts, to bad there are more eye witnesses to the DE and the merchant ship which supposedly saw this weirdness being in convoy towards Casablanca at this point, especialy the since the gear the merchie was carrying got used in the Sicilian campaign :/
  • Funnily enough I was having a chat about this topic the other day - aren't the Kennedy-era papers not that far off the declassifying limit?

    Wow! I didn't know this...

I mean I knew there was a guy in Arizona who pays good money to buy your Meteorites, but I wasn't aware that we had an actual working governmental project in the Asteroid belt...

So that's what all those extra Shuttle Launches have been about...

Come on! The shuttle is just a transfer vessel to the transport vessel that delivers the goods from the asteroid belt.

The middle upper class that has big money invested in the U.S. They're a *HUGE* part of decision making in the oval office because piss them off and they leave which drives up interest rates (interesting book: Class Warfare). Toodles!
