The one where he died would have been a lot better if he hadn't seen himself as a patriotic hero becoming a martyr at the end.

Hard to say which one is the worst, but Grey 17 Is Missing was indeed pretty bad, well boring at least. But there were several other episodes too which I found quite bad or/and boring though.

Ok, did you WATCH this episode? The Soul Hunter episode set the stage for the Minbari's belief in how souls worked. It established the idea of how souls (or whatever they really are) could be captured -- and how the Minbari believed that trapping souls kept them from contributing to future generations. Whether or not you think it was a good episode is one thing, but to say it had nothing to do with the series is just way off.

OK i did forget what it did do but the thing is they established their soul beliefs so many more times in the series it turned out not to be so unique in that regard and imo the series could have been better without.
  • There was an episode in season 1, which truely deserved to be drowned in a bag. I can't remember what it was called, but it was about the doctor not being aloud to save a small (irritating) child's life, because of the said child's parent's religious beliefs. Utter crap.

On a different, but not unrelated note, you all sound like the comic-book geek from The Simpsons:

    "Wost episode ever..." etc.

I remember that episode and what I do remember of it, it was a bad episode. Had to be worse than Grey 17 definitely.

Yes, but WHY do you think it was utter crap? Just saying it was crap isn't very insightful.

The episode was called "Believers", and I liked it for a few reasons.

    1) It dealt with a topic that pops up on occasion. I hear quite often about court cases involving parents who refuse medical treatment for sick children solely for religious reasons.

    2) It ended badly. A "Star Trek" ending would have involved the child being saved, and the family being grateful. To end it the way it was was very brave.

    3) It was a morally ambiguous episode. The episode didn't side with the parents of the child OR Dr. Franklin. It left the morality of the story open to the viewer. Babylon 5, unlike a lot of other television shows, encourages discusison by not preaching about what is right or wrong.

I thought it was a very powerful episode.

I actually quite liked "Believers". It may not have been exciting, but that doesn't make it a bad episode.

  • You lads really dissappoint me. I do admit it's been a while since I've watched B5 but I can surely remember the worst episode ever. An episode that made me feel ashamed I followed the series:

    GRAIL

If anyone can contradict me with a solid argument that this episode isn't bad the skies will burn and burn with lemon juice. The only good thing about GRAIL was the Londo bit at the end, as I recall. It may actually suck, I still try to forget the episode...

I can follow that Infection was bad, but Grey 17 had its fun bits. Come on...

Congrats, Banner. You shat on the episode written by Randy's girlfriend. (not that that should sway your opinion or anything, I just thought it was funny)

I liked "Grail" -- the plotline with Jinxo was cool and helped to give some backstory to the station's construction. David Warner was great, and it was nice to see a non-humanoid alien (the Na'Ka'Leen Feeder) featured in the series.

One of my favorite little tidbits about that episode was at the end, when Jinxo (who had survived the destruction/loss of the 4 previous Babylon stations) finally left Babylon 5 on a transport named the Marie Celeste:
The transport Marie Celeste, which Thomas boarded at the end of the episode, is a reference to a sailing ship found adrift on the sea in 1872 by the crew of the ship Dei Gratia. The Celeste's crew was missing, as was her single lifeboat, but there were half-eaten meals in the mess hall and other evidence the crew had left suddenly. Investigators found that Captain Morehouse of the Dei Gratia had dined with Captain Briggs of the Celeste the night before departure, and Morehouse and his crew were tried for murder. There was no hard evidence, and they were acquitted. The missing crewmen were never found.
• With no offense intended the end result was IMHO terrible. The director of the episode didn't get a chance to direct anymore B5 episodes after that Now, he's not your boyfriend is he, SK? • If I must, Bigg.

Bad acting. Bad directing. Leading to a cheesy end result. The story was silly yet boring but was not saved by the bad acting and directing. Especially the latter. And this episode is in my book the only B5 episode that didn't have the B5 atmosphere at all although it most certainly was B5. Until I saw the character Jinxo play another role I thought he was a lousy and poor actor but another tv series where he starred I was impressed and could only conclude that one of the reasons Grail failed was because of the director. I'm not saying the director is the anti-christ or anything, not at all, but he must have had a bad hair-day or similar 'cause it didn't work.

Now, I could write a more detailed report on the matter if I saw the episode again but I'm still trying to avoid it to be honest. But then again, it's only my opinion so who cares
