Spotted, Russian Mig-17

So, the other day my sons cub scout den was going on a field trip to a local (Tyler TX) Aviation Museum, my wife had taken the kids about a year and half earlier, she said it stunk. There wasnt much there, the planes they had needed LOTS of work, and in general the guys there (while passionate) didnt seem overly friendly.
So needless to say, I wasnt expecting to see a [URL=http://www.fighterjets.com/]fully restored flight ready MIG-17[/URL] while walking into the hangar!! Im a big aviation nut, and Russian aviation has always interested me. Despite being what some would call "technologically inferior", Russian aviation experts have created aircraft with amazing agility and grace. The Mig-17 being one of them. Common knowledge among Korean and Vietnam erra fighter pilots is if the Russians had trained the Korean/Vietnamese pilots better, most of the American pilots would not around.
From a performace standpoint, the Mig-17 will out-turn just about every American Jet except the F-16.
Anyways, the pilot/owner Randy Ball was working on the engine in the hangar, replacing some pieces fixing stuff, and he stopped to talk to us for a bit. Extreemly personable guy, loves to talk planes.
If you live near any of the cities he is going to perform at this year, I would reccomend going and checking this plane out.

Well Mig -21's were not only sold to just about anyone who remotely sided with the soviets but they were also licensed for other countries to build them. I'm pretty sure there must be some places were they are still in active service.
