My mate actually has the voice changer mask and a large black cloak. I dread to think what ideas he'll get when I show him this. (He's also an overgrown kid with a long-suffering wife.) ;)

Many years ago I was working on a death costume, with a black empty hood instead of the traditional skull. I had the scythe and transparent "Freddy" claws that flickered with red LEDs behind them.

I finished it at about 1:30 am and went upstairs to show my wife. She said it was cool and dropped off to sleep again.

Next morning she hits me for giving her nightmares the rest of that night!

On Halloween itself we went to her parents' house and I met her brother as he came down the stairs into the dark kitchen. The scream was priceless, a memory I shall treasure forever.
