Good Music

RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
I was curious (since I now have DSL) if anyone has some really cool music that is worth the download. Basically from rock (classic and modern), current music, or anything else worth a download. Thanks.

A2597 - Hero is by Chad Kroeger, not Nickelback. He's the lead singer for that group, but that song was done by a different band with him as singer. Just thought I would be a stickler. And Shipping News is a film with Kevin Spacey about fishermen in Newfoundland. Haven't seen it yet, but apparenty it is quite good.

I would heartily recommend you get some stuff by the Tea Party. I hear they haven't made much of a splash in America yet, but they are big here in Canada. They are a very unique sound, kind of a blend of hard rock and a fair heaping of East Indian styles. Here's a couple of songs that are my favourites right now:

Interzone, The Bazaar, Walking Wounded, Lullaby, Apathy, Fire In The Head, Save Me (Remix), The River (Remix), Soulbreaking, Must Must...

Basically, get everything off of their Tangents CD (a greatest hits collection) as well as the first 7-8 tracks of Interzone Mantras.

I second that recommendation of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, but I would say you listen to the whole album at once (about 35-40 minutes). It all kinda of segues from one piece to another. Add to that Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Meddle. If you're not interested in the full albums, at least try Young Lust, Mother, The Wall (Parts 1,2 and 3, they are all different and work together), In the Flesh (from disc 1), Echoes, Speak To Me/Breathe. But as with all Pink Floyd, it's generally best to listen to the whole piece at once.

I also recommend grabbing some Queen. Get the entire Greatest Hits albums. And don't forget to listen to some of the ones you probably havent heard before, like Seven Seas of Rhye. I have become addicted to that track the past couple of weeks since rediscovering it after a long absence.

Next to recommend is Bare Naked Ladies. Grab their first album, Gordon, and move from there. I am not sure how popular they are in the US a this point, but they have been huge here for over a decade. King of Bedside Manor, Grade 9, Be My Yoko Ono, and Box Set are all great ones that you might not have heard before.

Jeez, I have alot of suggestions... how about some Metallica? For Whom the Bell Tolls, Master of Puppets, Sad but True, and Nothing Else Matters are all great.

Nickelback: Both of their albums are full of great songs, but my favourites at this time would have to be Leader of Men, Hollywood, Where do I Go? and Good Times Gone.

Hmm.... The Tragically Hip. Ahead by a Century, Music at Work, In Violet Light are all good.

REM : Man on the Moon, Losing my Religion.

To Alice in Chains I would add Got Me Wrong.

Soul Asylum - Can't Even Tell
David Wilcox - Riverboat Fantasy
Dave Pirner - Tube of Wonderful
Bad Religion - Leaders and Followers
The Jesus Lizard - Panic in Cicero
Matthew Good Band - Strange Days, Load Me Up, Failing the Rorsach Test,

If you are looking for something besides music, I have a couple of other suggestions

BBC - Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Radio Show
Eddie Murphy - Delirious
Eddie Murphy - Raw (OK, but not as good as Delirious)
Norm Macdonald on Conan O'Brian show (Midgets and Gays)

There's what came off the top of my head anyways

YO DG! theirs a lot of better songs by bad religion. like stranger than fiction, american jesus, new america, infection, and i really love 21st century digital boy.

and ya i do have a strange taste in music. but the music i want now is really hard stuff to find thats starting to annoy me. like i want the orcrastrions of the score to final fantasy and i cant find em all. and i want the album by subrosa but that is even rarer i think.
• Hey DG.
Thanks for info on the Hero song.

and I highly reccoment Shipping news, the beginning kinda stinks though.
(It starts off with a Bang if you catch my drift...although intergral to the plot. )

Yea I get your drift.... the ships bang into the dock dont they? Heh he... And I think I only knew that thing about Hero because I am Canadian and so is Nickelback. Unfair advantage I guess .

I will look up that other stuff by Bad Religion when I get a chance...
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
