To the staff of FirstOnes: I salute you. Thanks for giving some orphans a new home.
ItF isn't on a DAT tape in Sierra's backup locker. It's here; in our imaginations, dreams, and the community of friends that we all helped build. ItF isn't theirs, it has become ours; all of ours, together.
We all need to be sad, maybe mourn a little, but there shouldn't be any regrets. I know that I don't have any.
Most of the best things in life aren't a destination; they're a road. We walk the path; sometimes together, sometimes alone, sometimes not knowing where we are going. I am proud to have walked the road with all of you, and I thank you.
How does the famous quote go? "... and I chose the road less traveled by."
Be seeing you --

So thats it. In the long run, Sierra has deprived us of not just a game, but an experience. I have never taken no for an answer, not in my whole life, when they say yesterday, I say towmorrow, and i always win.
No. I will not except this, not ever. If I can't find a way to organize people and go straight to the top, I'll Help the rest of BattleStaions to provide a suppliment. I will not give Up. I will never loose hope, for when it comes down to it, Hope is all we have. Sector 14 studios tryed their best and I respect that. But Mabey, just mabey I can do better. I will NOT except the fact that sierra has just deprived us of Into the fire and neither should you.
Because when it comes down to it, their desissions make no logical scence.
But they can crush Sector 14 and show no way back "into the fire"... and we can except that, or we can make our own last hope...
"It taught us that we have to create the future...or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope; that there can always be new beginnings" - Susan Ivonova in the episode "Sleeping in the light"
But we will continue. Without sector 14, we will find hope, we will retrieve the un-retrievable, or at least we will try.
"You can kill us, but then someone would just replace us, and then sopmeone will replace them, and another and another until there is no one left..." -Delenn in the episode "Into The Fire"
This is indeed very sad news. I had high hopes. I know Sierra owns the source code, but what about the live-action footage that was shot for the game? What about the music written by Chris Franke? Any chance that might be released in the future? Does WB own the footage/music?
I hope the devs have great sucess in future projects.

Those of you who were in Atlanta a couple of years ago, I'm glad I got to meet you face to face.
As for closing remarks, all I can say to you for all that you've done:
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
But those of you with similar talents, and those of you with exceptional talents in this area, I urge you to keep "The Fire" going. There are many mods out there related to this site. Give them fuel for their "Fire".
"I've Found Her" (IFH) and "Freespace: Babylon Project" are two of several brightly burning "Fires". (IMHO)
Well at least now we can all enjoy plenty more rounds of hoyle solitare...oh wait that sucks. thanks for all the hard work guys. I'm gonna go be disapointed now.
I wish the best of luck to all of you who were making B5:ITF, i hope you will all be lucky in your lives.
This is something i wouldn't have wanted to wake up to. Just woke up, and what i see first? B5:ITF finally dead...

Well, dont fear god senator, and certainly dont fear me... not anymore."
I too am saddened by this news. Much thanks of course to Rick and all at Sector 14 for fighting the good fight as long as they could. Good luck to all in the future. I too hope that this site continues. Even without the game, it is a remarkable community.
I have always been here... sort of.
And as long as there is a site, I will pop in from time to time.
Oh, and can someone remove Eternity's post with all the Ahhhhs. I hate having to scroll sideways to read posts. Or maybe he could just edit it a little.

I can't believe it's over. B5:ITF deserved to be done. People here needed and deserved it. The game industry needed this game. B5:ITF was NEED to be done dammit.
Thank you "Vorlons" for everything! You're the best!
Wow. I'm disappointed that the game didn't come about, but there are other games, and there will be more in the future. Maybe not as bitchin' as ITF would have been, but there it is. I think the truest test of character is how one handles defeat. It's easy to be graceful in victory, but everyone here has shown a maturity and graciousness that makes me feel proud to have been involved in whatever minor way that I have been. I think the most important thing that came about is the Community, with a capital C.
It's a bit ironic that with all of the B5 quotes that are floating around, the quote that springs instantly to my mind is not from B5. It's from a really cheesey movie called "Flash Gordon" Dr. Hans Zarkoff, "You can't beat the human spirit!"
Now all you Devs go and take a well deserved break (not too long, though, or it'll be docked from your pay), then get back into the slave pits, where you belong... If any of you guys need the services of a good business analyst, let me know.

thanks to the devs and S14 for staying with it for so long, others might have quit at some point, you didn't...
it's as John Walker said, it's not yet gone. the people at S14 did what they could to prevent this, all of us know that. sure we're pissed now but we shouldn't get too much into that. Itf could have become something really great (and maybe it will some day) but we can be certain of one thing: it didn't fail because of us or S14, cause we still have it in us... as long as the idea exists, the game is not dead...
there's always hope... especially with a place like this

To me the only truly important card Sierra held was the photage and the plot. That deserved to bee seen.
As for Babylon 5 game. ITF itself may be dead. But stand assured gentlemen. We will get our game. It wont be exaclty like ITF was, but the elements will be there. And it will tell a story. I belive in the individuals surrounding the project. Not the ones who just want to profit, but the ones who want to tell the story.
We have a new movie comming out. And I bet JMS has more up his sleave. We will have a good game.
Hello, I've lurked here for quite awhile. While I do understand that games are a "business," I've never wanted my gaming time to be filled with 3D shooters. Apparently most of the gaming public does.
This, and the cancellation of UO2 by EA, has been extremely disappointing. I haven't bought a game in recent memory, since Deus Ex in 1999, that has "wowed" me. Entertainment is simplifying to the 'lowest common denominator', just like pop music and sitcom TV.
I won't quote some quote from someone to try to pretend to be happy. I'm not. I'm pissed off and I hate Sierra. And most of all, I'm disappointed in the mediocrity that American society seems to promote on TV, in games, in politics, in music, in movies, in books, and in churches.
Well, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but since I'm a super-lurker I just wanted to get my name up here and say I'm sorry it didn't fly.
