• This all reminds me of my favourite quote from B5:
[b]Well, were was I... yes, the war. The humans, I think, knew they were doomed, but where another race would surrender to dispear, the humans fought back with even greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space. In my life I have never seen anything like it.

They would weep, they would pray, they would say goodbye to their loved one and then throw themselves, without fear or hesitation, at the very face of death itself, never surrendering.

No one, who saw them fighting against the inevitable, could help but be moved to tears by their stubborn nobility. When they ran out of ships they used guns, when they ran out of guns they used knives and sticks and bare hands. They were magnificent. I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with half as much dignaty as I saw in their eyes at the end. They did this for two years, they never ran out of courage, but in the end they ran out of time.

So sad to hear the news guys, you've done so much for us, and I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. Good luck for the future, in all your endevours.

Kick ass 3D game engine that accepts lightwave 3D model formats, and texturing, or has provisions for conversion from Lightwave 3D.

Preferably using Lightwave 6.x format, but will settle for one that uses the older Lightwave 5.6x formats.

Also preferably freeware or shareware, but will consider relatively cheap commercial versions.

I have a little project I want to start...

I look at it this way: when Rangers becomes a hit, (And you better well believe that it will!) the B5 franchise will take off again. It will only be natural that as it does, interest in a B5 sim will also rise again...

In the meantime, there are some *great* B5 game mods out there. I've Found Her is looking quite awesome, and could well be the game we've all been waiting for. The IWar mods look very promising, and the IWar 2 engine supports LW objects and already have a Newtonian flight control system.

ItF will live on... as G'Kar once said "the war isn't over, the tactics have just changed."

• I have not been around much as of late, but I always kept up hope that the game would rise like a phoenix. Who knows, a B5 game may still lie ahead somewhere in the future. To the development team, even though im agnostic, i extend this old Egyptian blessing:
May god stand between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk.
• In a moment of sillyness in despair:

When there was S14,
It was a very good year,
A very good year, for Vorklifts,
And aardvarks that flew through the stars,
They'd battle watercoolers there,
And Sierra things,
When there was S14.....

Now the days grow short,
it's the autumn of the year,
And I look back on this game
Like vitage Brivari,
From fine Centauri kegs
From the brim to the dregs
It played sweet, and clear,
It was a very good year...

Thanks for all the efforts, Rick. It's taken me a bit to gather my thoughts, and feelings on this - I bought my new computer in anticipation of the never-seen Sierra version of the game - an entire system, predicated on anticipation of a single game. While other games have come, and gone, some quite good - most derived from other games, there is always that part of me that yearns to spend some time living in the B5 universe. And it continues.

Your efforts will, most likely, not have been completely for naught - one day a B5 game *will* be made, and they'll look back at the foundation laid here, receive inspiration, and one day, the game *will* be made.

"Like all good things, it took them awhile to work it out."

This is truly a sad day, it is the end of our story, the fight to save the greatest game that never was. It is now time to close the book and look to the future. Our efforts to save ITF may die but our hopes and dreams for a Babylon 5 game will remain. Who knows what the future holds.

My thanks go out to Rick, Randy, Jeff, Dan, Jack, John, Marc, Ken, and all others involved. Your efforts have gone way above and beyond the call of duty. Thank You. Best of luck to all

And a special thanks to Grinner, DraziGuy, Sanfam, Biggles, Freeze, Samuelk, Warleader, all involved in Mod development, and to the other members who made Firstones the best damn community on the web. Its been a pleasure.

One more thing, actually two: Rick, are you able to elaborate on the details of what happened in the end? Also, what will happen with the unfinished game? Is it destined to gather dust in Sierra's vault or is there any hope the general public will ever get a chance to see it or possibly play it? I sure will miss not being able to see those cutscenes. Why is it so hard to make your dreams come true?

I want to thank every individual that we learnt to recognize as part of S14. Thank you for putting your efforts into B5:ITF -- thank you for keeping our hopes alive!

As many have said before -- there will be a time when a B5 game, and more specific a combat simulation, will see the light of day although it will not be easy. The quotation Rick has chosen says it (once again) with unsurpassable clarity. I agree with the idea to keep this place alive, and maybe even restructure it to serve as a meeting place not only connected to B5:ITF.

For now, let me tell you this: I have never thought that such a thing as a web message board could feel like a second home. We are on our way -- we have been stopped but we didn't fall. Let's keep the spirit alive!

Now there's an idea for raising money for the site...
How about shirts with the Sector 14 Studios logo on the front, and on the back something like "I fought for B5:ITF"? Noone will know what it means except another firstone, but hey I don't care, I just really like the idea of having a shirt.

• When the game was originally cancelled, I had a massive arguement on the Sierra boards with some ignorant prick who said Sierra was right and that Startreck was better anyway. At least now I'm with friends. And it's for that reason that I'll stay. Firstones will live on.

I don't know why, but I still think there will be a game. I think it's a shame we'll never get to see the cutscenes they shot, a real shame.

This is all coming out wrong, I guess I'm just upset, but I thank everyone of you - especially the devs, we've been part of something special. No one can cancel that.

To say I'm heartbroken would be an understatement. I have followed the dream of a Babylon 5 game with a sense of excitement and anticiation that I would not have thought possible for a "computer game".

First of all, my heartfelt thanks go out to Rick and the whole crew at Sector 14 and the former Developers at Sierra. You have inspired the greatest devotion to a game that I have ever experienced. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. Your courage and steadfastness in the face of adversity is nigh on unbelievable.

To Drazi Guy and everyone at Firstones. This is such a wonderful community of diverse people all striving for the one goal. I would hate to see it die and with Morfeus protecting the light switch I think we'll be around for awhile yet!

"Humans share one unique quality. They build communities. If the Narns or the Centauri or any other race built a station like this, it would be used only by their own people, but everywhere humans go, they create communities out of diverse and sometimes hostile populations. It is a great gift and a terrible responsibility, one that cannot be abandoned."
-- Delenn in Babylon 5:"And Now For a Word"

This is the end of Babylon 5 "Into The Fire" but it is also I think, the start of a new beginning. There is too much interest in a genuine physics based Babylon 5 space sim game for it not to be made. It will be a long journey that as we already know will have pinnacles of joy and depths of despair, but it is worth making the journey.

I hope we can all walk the path together.

• These are sad news , but I am .... somehow happy now

I can't explain , but... the last months we from the babylon project team ( the guys who wanna mod FS2 ) suffered from a lack of motivation. Personally I always thought that TBP would only have the chance to pitifully coexist with ITF and I always had the impression that all we do would be somehow in vain .

Now that itF is gone I have fully regained my motivation , since TBP and the freeware game I'VE FOUND HER have become the flagships of the Babylon 5 gaming comunity.

Ironically , but OUR future now was born in THIS pain. Great , now I go back texturing the crew shuttle. hehehe

Well , we dont have actors but I assure you that except this you won't be disappointed by these tho projects.

So , accept the casualties and look forward to these high-quality ptojects.

To the sector-14 team :
If some of you guys somehow still want to make a B5 game contact the teams :

Freespace 2: The Babylon Project http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/babylon

I've Found Her : ( full standalone product ) http://mods.firstones.com/ifh

I think especially IFH would be something for you , we FS2 modders are mostly fighting with the traits of the engine and Oleg Petrov , the chief programmer of IFH is a really nice and capable guy who is a professional programmer ( he also made the 3d-engine from HIRED TEAM TRIAL GOLD - not a good game , but the engine he was responsible for was even superior to the quake3 engine )

So check out what the Babylon 5 universe also offers you.

@ all ( for the ones who dont know )
--------
There is a series of mods and standalone products imminent. If you wanna have Babylon 5 , there are mods for I-War , Homeworld ( cataclysm ) , Star Trek Armada , Klingon Academy , Freespace 2 .
And some standalone products like
- IFH ( the most promising so far )
- B5fsf ( the other fligh simulator )
- one first person shooter
- paraworlds , a game like master-of-orion

and whatever I cannot think of right now.

So. No need to become depressive.
